What in the world has happened to our once great republic?  The U.S. Congress has been turned into a festival of legalized bribery.  We all know that at least on some level, but when Glenn Beck interviewed Eric Massa the other day, what Massa had to say totally stunned many of us.  He told Beck that "you can literally be bought and sold legally" as a member of the U.S. Congress.  He also said that members of Congress spend about 5 hours a day just raising money, and that there are special coaches that are brought in that teach them how to do it better.  How insane is that?

But one of the saddest things that Massa had to say is that he felt completely and utterly powerless to change the system as a member of Congress.  When even a member of Congress can do absolutely nothing about the runaway corruption of the U.S. government, you know that the system is broken.

Do yourself a favor and take a couple of minutes and watch the excerpt from the interview posted below.  No matter what your political persuasion is, you have to admit that this is really, really sad....

The following is a letter to new Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown from a disgruntled Tea Party activist that has been getting forwarded all over the Internet. I think that it sums up the feelings of a lot of those involved in the Tea Party movement regarding Scott Brown. It only took him a couple of days in office for him to betray the people who elected him. The truth is that Scott Brown is a RINO - a Republican in name only. He has already shown that he has far more in common with Barack Obama than with anyone in the Republican Party.

So now many Tea Party activists are furious and are going to be working to vote out Scott Brown in the next election. All of the enthusiasm and passion that benefited him this time could very well be his undoing next time around.

Here is the letter from the disgruntled Tea Party activist....

Dear Scott Brown,

You are a real piece of work, aren't you? I am a member of the Tea Party Movement that went to bat for you. I donated money, that we just didn't have, but, your words spoke of the true "change" we all wanted. I gave up countless hours in email to the good people of your state, in support of you. I worked your phone banks. You made promises that were nothing more than a lie, to get yourself elected. You are nothing more than a RINO!!!!

You voted with the commies on a jobs bill that you knew was just a fraud upon the people. And, the last straw? When I saw you prancing around endorsing Juan McAmnesty.

You, sir, are a fool. WE put you in office, and, hear me well, AH, WE will take you out just as easily. The TEA PARTY MOVEMENT grows in strength, resolve and determination. Enjoy your 2 years, Brown, because.....WE the PEOPLE are coming for you in NOV 2012!!!!!! The Tea Party Movement can make or break anyone....you are aware of this....you were recipient of our good, generous natures. YOU LIED TO US. You are the same as the rest of them, and, I think you are a sad, pathetic, small, little man.

The majority of Republicans now believe that Barack Obama is a socialist. According to a new survey conducted for Daily Kos by polling firm Research 2000, 63 percent of those who identify themselves as Republicans say that they believe that Barack Obama is a socialist. Of course the liberal blogs are having a field day with this one. After all, it is ludicrous to think that any major U.S. politician is actually a socialist, right?

Well, where I come from if it walks like a duck and if it quacks like a duck then we call it a duck.

So is Barack Obama a socialist?

-Obama believes that the government should run the economy and he has already taken over some of America's biggest corporations and has given government bailouts to many of the biggest banks.

*Check

-Obama believes in big government and he is expanding the number of people working for the U.S. government to over 2 million people this year.

*Check

-Obama believe in raising taxes and in massively increasing government spending.

*Check

-Obama has almost got his government takeover of the U.S. health care system pushed through Congress.

*Check

-Obama is pushing a "cap and trade" carbon tax scheme on the American people that would give the U.S. government unprecedented control over U.S. businesses and over the intimate details of our personal lives.

*Check

-Among Obama's mentors during his formative years were some of the most radical socialists and communists in recent U.S. history.

*Check

-Obama is continuing to build the Big Brother police state infrastructure that other administrations started which is stripping away our civil liberties and turning us into whimpering servants of the almighty central government.  This is exactly what other major totalitarian socialist governments throughout history have done.

If you study history, the parallels between what is going on right now in the United States and what happened during the rise of other socialist regimes throughout history is absolutely stunning.

The 2010 elections are quickly becoming the most anticipated mid-term elections in modern American history. A little over a year ago, the American people gave the Democrats control of the House, the Senate and the White House. But now public opinion has swung dramatically against the Democrats.

Why?

As the video posted below explains, the American people are sick of the bailouts, sick of the spending, sick of the government takeovers, sick of the unemployment, sick of the corruption, sick of the socialism and sick of politicians not listening to concerns about health care reform.

The video below is very powerful and it has been viewed on YouTube tens of thousands of times. There is nothing offensive in it, but it has already been yanked down off of YouTube several times.

Why has it been yanked down? Your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps people don't like hearing the truth.

The reality is that American voters are angrier than at any other point in modern times, and it looks like 2010 is going to be a really, really bad year for the Democrats....

But will the Republicans do any better if they get power?

After all, the reckless spending and expansion of government by the Bush administration got us into the position we are today.  Bush backed the bailouts and the government takeovers too.  In many ways, the Obama administration is just continuing the policies that the Bush administration started.  The truth is that the Bush administration was one of the most liberal administrations that the U.S. has ever had when you take an honest look at the issues.

So if the American people just end up voting in a bunch of George W. Bush clones, that is not going to solve much of anything.

The truth is that both parties are controlled by the establishment to such a degree that it is virtually impossible for the American people to change the course of the nation at the voting box anymore.  No matter who gets voted in, it just seems like things keep going the same way.

Hopefully the tea party movement can result in some real conservatives getting voted into Congress in 2010.  But it is high time that we all realize that the vast majority of the politicians in both parties are owned and bankrolled by the establishment, and not much is going to change until that does.

The Obama administration has decided that Barack Obama can break any law he signs if Obama decides that the law in not constitutional and that he can do this whenever he wants and that he does not even have to tell anyone what he is doing.  Seriously.  At least George W. Bush informed that American people that he intended to break the laws that he was signing by including a "signing statement" when he objected to something in a bill.  As bad and as unconstitutional as that was, now the Obama administration is taking things to a whole new level by saying that even if Barack Obama signs a bill into law, the Obama administration can still break any law in that bill if the Obama administration decides that it is an "unconstitutional" limit on Obama's power.

In essence this bring the United States even closer to a dictatorship.

If the president has the ultimate power to decide what is and what is not constitutional, and if the president also has the power to break any laws that he does not feel are constitutional, then the reality is that there are very few limits on his power.  The only limit is essentially how big of an imagination he has.

While Bush was in office, he challenged about 1,200 sections of bills, and Barack Obama continued this "signing statement" pattern during his first few months.

However, Obama has not issued a signing statement since last summer.  Last June, Obama issued a signing statement that claimed that he could openly disobey a new law requiring administration officials to push the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to adopt certain policies that Congress wanted.

That signing statement sparked a tremendous backlash on Capitol Hill.

Since then, the Obama administration has decided that instead of issuing signing statements, Obama will just ignore the provisions of any bill that the Obama administration believes are unconstitutional.

For example, the Obama administration has flatly disregarded a new law passed by Congress that forbids State Department officials from attending United Nations meetings led by nations deemed to be state sponsors of terrorism.

So now Obama gets to essentially have his cake and eat it too.

He can sign into law the various bills sent to him by Congress but can also ignore anything in them that he does not want to follow himself.

So can anything be done about this?

The truth is that this type of thing could quickly escalate into a constitutional crisis.  But with the Democrats in charge of both Congress and the White House, the odds of Congress complaining to the Supreme Court about what Obama is doing are so low as to not even be worth mentioning.

So for right now at least, Barack Obama will get to continue to openly break many of the laws that he is signing and nothing will be done about it.
