If the UN is given control of the Internet, that would be a massive step toward making the UN a true global government. The Internet is the number one venue for free speech and freedom of expression on the planet today, and if the UN is given authority over the Internet it would only be a matter of time before free speech is severely cracked down on. Of course it would not happen immediately. At first, UN officials would likely mostly keep their promises of maintaining a "free and open Internet". But inevitably you would see them act to remove "terrorists" from the Internet, to crack down on "hate speech" and to repress any "politically incorrect" speech that is likely to insult anyone in any way. If you were censored or banned from the Internet, you could scream about the 1st Amendment all you want, but the United Nations is not bound by the 1st Amendment. The UN is not there to protect you or your freedoms. If the UN becomes "the government of the Internet", you can essentially kiss freedom of speech goodbye. For the environmental extremists attending the U.N. climate change summit in Copenhagen, fighting global warming is not just about reducing carbon emissions or promoting alternative energy. Rather, public documents released by some of the most important organizations represented at Copenhagen reveal an absolute obsession with population control and a bizarre belief by environmental extremists that population reduction is the "cheapest" way to achieve a reduction in carbon emissions. You see, to many of those gathered in Copenhagen, the math is simple. Less people = less carbon emitters. In fact, a carbon offset initiative launched by the Optimum Population Trust even allows people to offset their "carbon footprint" by making online payments to support "family planning" in poor countries. In other words, you can now be forgiven for your carbon "sins" by paying for a baby on the other side of the world to be killed.
As the U.N. Copenhagen climate change summit begins today, prostitutes in that city are looking forward to doing a brisk business with government officials who are flying in from all over the world. However, things are not looking so great for anyone who would dare to protest the climate change summit. Authorities have prepared small metal cages for the "extended detention" of protestors. By publicizing the severe security measures being implemented ahead of time, summit organizers appear to be attempting to send this message to opponents: "Don't mess with us!" 
There has been a very disturbing new trend among world leaders who are also "global warming" activists. Increasingly, these world leaders are openly discussing the need for "global governance" to fight "man-made global warming". To them it appears obvious that a global problem requires a global solution. In fact, the December summit in Copenhagen is being hailed by these world leaders as one of the most important moments in human history. They claim that if we do not act on a global level now to stop "climate change" that we will be facing a catastrophic future of unprecedented magnitude.
