Fukushima Radiation More Than 10 Times The Normal Level Is Detected On California Beaches

Fukushima Radiation - University Of New South Wales

Multiple independent tests have confirmed that levels of nuclear radiation are being detected on California beaches that are more than 10 times the normal level.  Many believe that this is the result of highly radioactive water from Fukushima that has crossed the Pacific Ocean and is now washing up on California beaches.  Others are blaming the radiation spikes on “natural sources”, but they can never seem to identify what those natural sources actually are.  If this radiation is from Fukushima, it is only going to get worse over time.  Every single day, another 300 tons of highly radioactive water gets released into the Pacific Ocean at Fukushima.  Some of these radioactive elements have half-lives of about 30 years, so the total amount of radioactive material in the Pacific is continually growing and it will be with us for a very long time.  As this highly radioactive water hits the west coast of the United States, a lot of that nuclear material will end up being deposited on our beaches.  As you will see below, there is evidence that this is already happening.

Scientists all over the world have told us to expect a radioactive ocean plume from Fukushima to hit our shores at some point in 2014.  For example, check out what researchers at the University of South Wales are saying

The first radioactive ocean plume released by the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster will finally be reaching the shores of the United States some time in 2014, according to a new study from the University of New South Wales — a full three or so years after the date of the disaster.

The following graphic comes from that study…

Fukushima Radiation - University Of New South Wales

And another team of researchers has concluded that the plume of radiation from Fukushima that will be hitting our shores will “peak in 2016”

Ocean simulations showed that the plume of radioactive cesium-137 released by the Fukushima disaster in 2011 could begin flowing into U.S. coastal waters starting in early 2014 and peak in 2016.

Unfortunately, there are lots of signs that this radioactive plume has already arrived.

Recently, a video that was taken at Pacific State Beach (also known as Surfers Beach) went viral all over the Internet.  That video showed that radiation levels near the water on that beach are up to five times higher than normal background radiation.

Since that time, a number of other researchers have gone over there to confirm these findings.  For example, an electrical engineer with 40 years of experience went down to the beach and measured radiation levels that were about 14 times higher than normal

In a new development, El Granada electrical engineer Steven Weiss, a 40 year veteran designer of Geiger counters, took his own measurements and found hot spots that were returning levels 14 times normal background radiation.

“It’s not normal. I’ve never seen 400 cpm when I just wave my Geiger around.” Weiss told the Half Moon Bay Review. “There has to be something radioactive for it to do that.”

And just today I was made aware of another video taken at “Surfers Beach” which showed a peak reading of 380 CPM (counts per minute).  That is more than 10 times above the normal level.  You can watch that video right here.

In addition, back on December 24th one researcher measured a peak reading of 412 CPM on that same beach…

All of these readings are extremely unusual.

In fact, one news crew actually discovered that radiation levels at Surfers Beach are actually 7 times higher than just outside an active nuclear power plant in Diablo Canyon.  Just check out the following video

Unfortunately, the federal government continues to insist that everything is perfectly fine and that we don’t have anything to worry about.

So independent researchers have stepped up to fill the void.

As you can see from the latest NETC map, elevated levels of radiation have been detected in many cities across the western half of the United States.

The government says that there is no reason for alarm.

Others are not so sure.

When it comes to nuclear radiation, a little bit can go a long way.  Just because you can’t see it does not mean that it can’t seriously hurt you.

If you doubt this, just ask those that served on the USS Ronald Reagan when it went over to Japan in the immediate aftermath of the Fukushima disaster.  The following is an excerpt from a recent Ecowatch article

Senior Chief Michael Sebourn, a radiation-decontamination officer assigned to test the aircraft carrier, said that radiation levels measured 300 times higher than what was considered safe at one point. Meanwhile sailors like Lindsay Cooper have contrasted their initial and subsequent feelings upon seeing and tasting metallic “radioactive snow” caused by freezing Pacific air that mixed with radioactive debris.

“We joked about it: ‘Hey, it’s radioactive snow!” Cooper said. “My thyroid is so out of whack that I can lose 60 to 70 pounds in one month and then gain it back the next. My menstrual cycle lasts for six months at a time, and I cannot get pregnant.

“It’s ruined me.”

Cooper said the Reagan has a multimillion-dollar radiation-detection system, but the crew couldn’t get it activated quickly enough.

“And then we couldn’t go anywhere,” she said. “Japan didn’t want us in port, Korea didn’t want us, Guam turned us away. We floated in the water for two and a half months.”

According to the New York Post, at least 70 members of the crew have been diagnosed with radiation sickness, and “at least half” of those have developed cancer…

At least 70 have been stricken with some form of radiation sickness, and of those, “at least half . . . are suffering from some form of cancer,” their lawyer, Paul Garner, told The Post Saturday.

“We’re seeing leukemia, testicular cancer and unremitting gynecological bleeding requiring transfusions and other intervention,” said Garner, who is representing 51 crew members suing the Tokyo Electric Power Co., which operates the Fukushima Daiichi energy plant.

If radioactive material from Fukushima is washing up on our shores, don’t we deserve the truth?

Or is the government so concerned about “keeping us calm” that they will lie to our faces while thousands upon thousands of Americans slowly but surely develop cancer and other horrible illnesses?

For much more on how radiation from Fukushima is already affecting us, please see my previous article entitled “36 Signs The Media Is Lying To You About How Radiation From Fukushima Is Affecting The West Coast“.

Sadly, most Americans are totally clueless about all of this.

Most Americans just blindly believe whatever the mainstream media tells them to believe.

To illustrate this, political activist Mark Dice recently offered random people cold bottles of “Fukushima Imported Mineral Water” that were marked with a very large radiation label.  Check out what happened

So what do you think?

Should we be concerned about the radioactive water that is crossing the Pacific Ocean from Fukushima?

Please feel free to share your opinion by posting a comment below…

I think the third video predicts what is next. Radiation is good for you. It makes men more virile, women more beautiful, and children smarter. Make sure you get a good dose of radiation every day. The number that would buy into it? Higher than most would think.

    • Kim

It also makes very pretty jewelry. Have u ever read about the Goiania, Brazil incident? U should look it up and read about it. It’s so tragic, yet fascinating enough to make an interesting movie.

      • K

Yes I am familiar with the incident. Tragic is a very good word for it.

  • Kim

Another thing about radiation is that there are no safe levels. Cesium 137 does not exist in nature (no background cesium 137) and there are no safe levels of exposure to it.

This is an awful situation. And there is no solution.

    • K

Kim, I do not know there is no solution. What I do know, is no one is trying anything that is going to work.

      • Kim

The cores from the triple melt down are in an unknown location, presumably in the earth somewhere, fissioning, out of containment. Since no one knows where this material is, because no one can get close enough to locate it, this will continue for years. At least they’ve managed to keep the the zirconium cladding on the plutonium rods from igniting. But for how much longer? I am aware that the Japanese PM has asked for international help repeatedly. Where is everyone? Where is the help? Guess he had to settle for homeless workers since no one showed up. Horrible.

        • Peakview

There has been international assistance and personnel at Fukushima since the immediate aftermath of the tsunami. Nuclear experts from around the world have been on the project. This is a fear mongering web site. Better to get your news from actual sources.

          • Kim

No there hasn’t. TEPCO operates a “disaster tour” for people like Gunderson (sp) from Fairewinds and other experts and they’ve all offered opinions and theoretical solutions. Gunderson had a decent solution in the beginning but TEPCO was slow to act and the window of opportunity to implement his ideas is now closed. He high-tailed it out of there is short order.

The Japanese PM has sent out multiple calls for international assistance and no one but TEPCO workers and Japanese homeless people are there, actually on site doing dangerous work “decommissioning” the broken reactors. Where’d everyone else go? Can you blame them?

    • MichaelfromTheEconomicCollapse

      Very good point.

    • Peakview

Don’t ever fly, don’t ever go to Denver, never go to Grand Central Station. They all have more radiation than where you are. Also, never go outside when it is sunny. No amount of radiation is safe.

      • Kim

First off, sunshine is radiation, but it’s non-ionizing radiation. Any gamma rays from the sun are filtered out by the earth’s atmosphere. Although, too much sun isn’t good for you, it’s actually healthy to sit in the sun for twenty minutes a day. It balances your ph levels and acting as an alkalizer for the body.–no amount of cesium 137 considered healthy. Second, stick to the facts. You don’t know yet how much beta rays are in the water. Beta particles settle in plant life, water, and can be in the air. Last, I don’t doubt there is some ionizing radiation exposure on board a airliner. three rules of radiation exposure: time, distance, shielding. If there it here are beta particles in the water or atmosphere from Fukushima, there goes time and distance. I don’t know anyone that spends there entire existence on board a plane.

    • GSOB

They plan to freeze the all the surrounding ground and also, they plan to do I new procedure like x-ray so they can learn where the melt through fuel is at.

Meanwhile, over this two year time frame, they will dismantle the plant 4 working 24/7 to do it.

These are steps that are in the right direction. CBS news two nights ago did not mention any of what I just wrote… they did not explain the precarious plant 4 four situation… but mentioned the 24/7 effort.

      Check it out.
The show (1/27/14) did leave the viewers with a ‘sigh’ about the whole mess.

It is interesting that there are not any known, at least to me, American government agency, checking the radiation levels on our West coast.
What I do see is ‘government officials” or “local officials” saying this or that – to make it safe and making you and I, those of us concerned… look like idiots.

This last wave of their propaganda victory is misleading,… they do not acknolwedge to the public that precarious situation in plan 4…. regardless of what they say of levels at the beaches. They don’t address the real situation we are in.

Everyday is a blessing to be around. I keep up with Fukushima, and I don’t have a college degree.

      • Kim

Yes, reactor four poses the greatest risk. They have already constructed a permanent crane to lift the fuel rods out of the cooling pool- they did a successful trial run in November, but so far haven’t extracted anymore rods. The operation has to be performed manually and it’s unknown whether any of the rods are bent or damaged. It’s extremely hazardous and extremely risky.

The ice wall won’t work. It’s never been done before, and it’s doubtful that it will seal the bed rock. Water will find a way.

        • GSOB

Well, the Japanese government is flipping a big bill because they are convinced that it will work. I hope it will be a successful stepping stone, at least buy precious time.

          • Kim

Yes indeed they are. It’s just a band aid on the underlying problem tho.

          • GSOB

Have you seen the cosmic x-ray article I had mentioned?

          • Kim

I read about it last week on RT. It mentioned something about muon detecting radiation. It’s a bit out of my league, but as I understood it, it detects and maps ionizing radioactive “hot spots”.

          • GSOB

            That’s it. Muon

“alpha radiation from naturally occurring Polonium-210 is more damaging to biological tissues than gamma radiation from Cesium-137.”
“..radioactivity of the cesium was lower than the radioactivity content of the natural potassium in the fish.”

  • DJohn1

They are attempting at this time to freeze the entire area over. That is to keep the radiation from going elsewhere such as the Pacific Ocean.
Don’t know if that is even possible. The logistics of the situation are missing. So how hot is the core?
Water expands when it freezes between about 32 and 28 degrees. So freezing it might make things worse. Salt water has a different number but also expands when you freeze it. That is why people’s garden hoses break in the winter. The water expands and has no where to go.
    Radioactive ice cube anyone?
The reason no one is rushing into help is it will be almost certainly fatal to get anywhere near the site.
NASA needs to step forward here. They do have some of the best robots ever made. That might get them close enough to observe what is going on from a distant monitor. Don’t know if they have the shielding to keep a robot safe or not.
Was that Obama wanting to expand Nuclear Energy Plants here?
I suggest we need to start talks about closing all the nuclear plants down and replacing them with something else.
I think cold fussion might be a break through somewhere down the road. But right now the overhead makes it too expensive for all kinds of nuclear energy to be very practical. The closest practical application has been nuclear submarines.
Coal pollutes. But one volcano pollutes more than all the Coal generated electricity on the planet. So I really do not see the sense of shutting them down.
I think the long term answer has to be geothermal energy. But the cost is prohibitive. To obtain the heat necessary for it to be an energy source in non-volcanic stable areas means going down thousands of feet into the Earth. Japan is not one of those stable areas. Though mountains might have enough energy under them to make it worth while.
What nuclear energy has done is make it unfeasible for any country to use them as weapons. The exception of course is when you have human waves of soldiers. No one can make major war without destroying the entire planet’s life system. Then no one wins.
Fukushima is a lesson. If we somehow do contain it, then the lesson is to shut it all down before we destroy our planet.

    • Peakview

They are considering freezing some of the ground around the plant to provide a barrier to water seeping out. This is no mystery. Read some articles about it.

      • DJohn1

Do you have some addresses where these articles are. I am always interested in learning more about this situation.

Could this be part of wormwood?

    • Michael

going to make a third of the waters bitter and people will die, I do not know fir sure but, I think wormwood comes from out side the earth.

      • vsraglan

Because the second trumpet deals with a third of the seas, some think that the reference to “waters” with the third trumpet may be a reference to a third of peoples, nations instead of oceans .Wormwood is a key ingredient in absinthe and is associated with Diana/Hecate/Isis. According to that theory, a third of the people on the earth become bitter/angry and perform/cause a massive human blood sacrifice. Just a theory.

        • Michael

Revelation 17:5 the sea is people, but I would have to look further into this.

          Revelation 8:10-11KJV
          10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;

11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

Sounds like a star falling tom heaven to me.

  • Kim

Bad news is: beta radiation isn’t so good for fish either.

  • RealityBetraysUs@gmail.com

There will be no over fishing or underfishing on any coast that receives ocean currents from Japan!Because there will be no fish in the ocean this radiation will kill them all off in short order….Does the book of Revelation in the bible ring any bells when it predicts a third of the oceans will die…. Fukishima could very easily be the “wormwood” or cause of many waters made bitter and killing off all life within them…

  • d taylor

Chernobyl also released a large quantity of Cesium-137. The EU financed research on a treatment for vicitms of contamination, especially in Belarus. They developed a pectin-based supplement that removed about 65% of the harmful Cesium-137 from the body.

That product is called Vitapect and is the gold standard for proven Cesium removal.

  • Patrick

that is true….that is not my point. Who do we have that specializes in this field that has written a scholarly article on this issue. I see alot of “my friend told me” or “I know an expert who said” and the like. I, like you am a believer that we are screwed because of this but I was wondering where the rock solid evidence is that we can point to……say my son. I have tried to warn him and get him on the east coast for European operations. It is not like he gets to make that decision but he could request when the time is right. The article I referred people to look at appears to be more solid that anything I have seen on the other side. Where are the articles by experts for our side?

    • Kim

They’re out there, you just need to know where to look. Fairewinds has a balanced and expert report on Fukushima.

The problem too is, this disaster is unprecedented. It’s out of the realm of knowledge that any nuclear expert or group of experts possess. No one really knows the extent of the damage because it’s constantly unfolding 24/7. My advice would be to stick to the facts, as we know them.

TEPCO is running things and it has withheld information, or released false information for months and months.

Radiation doesn’t hit the coast and stop. That graphic isn’t the radioactive material, it’s the plotted path of tsunamis. Along with the confirmed fake video about radiation on California beaches, I can safely say that I have more faith in my “BIG BROTHER” government than any number of the Tin-Foil Hat Society that wrote this article.
