Obama = Jesus???

Should we be concerned that some Americans are putting Barack Obama up on the same level as Jesus Christ?  Should we be alarmed when a famous actor refers to “our Lord and Savior Barack Obama” on national television or when a prominent artist depicts Obama wearing a crown of thorns?  What should we think when authors write books about “Apostle Barack” or groups of school children sing songs about how wonderful he is?  It is very dangerous when national leaders start to become objects of national worship.  This is the kind of thing that happens in North Korea – not in the United States of America.  When we put men up on a pedestal, pretty soon we find ourselves going along with whatever they say even when we know that it is wrong.  It is fine to admire, respect and support our politicians if that is what you choose to do.  But when the line is crossed and we start giving any politician the kind of praise and worship that only God should receive, there is a big problem.  Barack Obama is not Jesus.  He is just a man.  Unfortunately, the truth is that many Americans believe that he is much more than that.  What you are about to see should really disturb you…

Recently, actor Jamie Foxx referred to Barack Obama as “our Lord and Savior Barack Obama” during a television broadcast of the 2012 Soul Train Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Video of this incident is posted below.  Notice that the crowd cheers wildly when Jamie Foxx says this…

A painting by artist Michael D’Antuono that is currently on display at Boston’s Bunker Hill Community College Art Gallery is making headlines all over the nation.  In the painting, Barack Obama has a crown of thorns on his head and his arms are stretched out as if he was being crucified.  In the background is the presidential seal…

The artist says that he has no plans of taking the painting down because “I feel my First Amendment rights should override someone’s hurt feelings”.

Others are now referring to Barack Obama as “Apostle Barack”.  For example, the following is the official description of a book entitled “The Gospel According To Apostle Barack” by Florida A&M University Professor Barbara A. Thompson…

Yes, Barack had worked tirelessly on behalf of the American people, especially those who elected him in 2008. His followers needed to re-elect him to a second term, so that he could continue to accomplish the promises he made, thus, realizing his vision of America as a more perfect political union or “heaven here on earth” Then, as I began to contemplate ways to assist Barack in his 2012 re-election bid something miraculous happened. I felt God’s (His) Spirit beckoning me in my dreams at night. Listening, cautiously, I learned that Jesus walked the earth to create a more civilized society, Martin (Luther King) walked the earth to create a more justified society, but, Apostle Barack, the name he was called in my dreams, would walk the earth to create a more equalized society, for the middle class and working poor. Apostle Barack, the next young leader with a new cause, had been taken to the mountaintop and allowed to see over the other side. He had the answers to unlock the kingdom of “heaven here on earth” for his followers. The answers were repeated – over and over – in speeches Barack had made from his presidential announcement to his inaugural address. Those speeches or his teachings contained the answers to the middle class and working poor people living in a “heaven here on earth” For when the answers were unlocked and enacted, Apostle Barack’s vision of America would be realized.

Are you disturbed yet?

You should be.

This next example of how Barack Obama is being “spiritualized” is a poster that was being sold on the streets outside the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte earlier this year…

Do you see what is being implied there?

What is being implied is that Barack Obama is just like Jesus – he is God’s Son that was sent to us from heaven and that we should believe in him.

And of course you have probably already heard about all of the groups of children over the past several years that have been singing songs of praise about Barack Obama.  One of the most famous examples from Obama’s first campaign is posted below.  The girl in the video has a beautiful voice, and it is kind of really chilling to hear her sing about how Obama is going to “lead us”.  At the end of the song, the group of children in the video sings “yes we can” over and over as if they are at some kind of a cult meeting…

Sadly, this is not the only example of this kind of a thing.  In a previous article, I detailed a number of other examples of groups of young children singing songs of praise to Barack Obama.

What in the world has happened to us?

This kind of “leader worship” is not supposed to happen here.  It is only supposed to happen in crazy societies like North Korea

So what do you think about all of this?  Please feel free to post a comment with your opinion below…

  • Democrats are communists, plain and simple. The state is God to the them. Thank God for the founding fathers, the constitution and term limits.

    • Mark

Are you sure he will leave in four years? As they say never let a good crisis go to waste.

    • Ralfine

      Communism = a classless society.
State = power instrument of the ruling class

Communism => no class = no state

Communists say states will cease to exist, when the people decide they won’t need them.

      How would you explain that?

Do you come to understand why communism is demonized by so many politicians?

      • bob

Without a ruling government, who will make sure everyone is equal? Who will make sure everyone is fed, clothed, contributes to the commune?

Do you come to understand why communism requires an oppressive government?

        • Ralfine

Did you hear of open source or the Internet?

Who is making sure that people contribute to forums?

Who is making sure that people provide solutions to other people’s problems, and not just write malicious posts?

          The FBI?

Yes, there are a lot of governments that want to rule the Internet, all for your safety, you know. Making sure you don’t have improper thoughts or opinions.

Anyway, how do you make sure your friends treat you equally? If they don’t do you shun them or do you kiss their behind?

Who makes sure you arrive every morning at work?

The government? The shareholder? They don’t even know you exist.

          Why would you need them?

  • I want to see him walk on water first. Preferably the deep end of the pool. I think a three piece suit would be appropriate attire.
No one currently in office is a god as far as I know. If the ancient legends are true, he is about 3-4 foot short of the description. But we do have a serious problem. The problem isn’t worship, it is that if he succeeds in steering this economy off the rocks, he can do no wrong as far as the people of this country are concerned. A similar thing happened in Germany after World War II. Hitler’s social programs appeared to bring them away from a national currency default and bring comfort back into their lives with Socialism government ruling the way businesses could act. He will have the popular vote and no one can keep him from picking a successor that will get elected. He and his successor will then be very popular and powerful figures. That is what we have to beware of. No one person should be put on a pedestal like that. We did this once with Abe Lincoln. Abe was not a god either. Abe did a lot of things I disagree with. Under his regime, reporters went to jail for disagreeing with him in the public press. Newspapers were shut down by the government. Well our history books do not tell that take very well. Neither is it taught in our public schools. After all, he was a national hero.

The same kind of hero worship is just as wrong today as it was then.

North Koreans (and South Koreans, for that matter) are not “crazy.” That’s a label we tend to use very freely for things we don’t understand, and very few people really know anything about the North, its people, its history, or Korean culture. I am NOT saying I approve of the North, the actions of the DPRK government, or its leaders. I am saying, however, that they are very, very different from just about anything with which Westerners are familiar, but this does not mean they are “crazy.” Dismissing them as “crazy” underestimates them and sells them short, which would be a very big mistake. Anyone taking the time to really study the country will see what I mean.

    • Richard T.

Sure they are not crazy, that is exactly why they cry and weep and howl when the Great Leader died. Because they know if they don’t, then they are next! Simple! So you better cry and cry hard!

    • bob

The people are not crazy, it’s just the communist leaders and their lackeys

  • I don’t wear my religion on my sleeve, but I fear that God will have the last word on this country, and the fools won’t know what hit them.

  • 2Gary2

Michael–Your right wing hack-e-ness is showing through again. soul train is trash TV. Is this really the best you can do to resort to quoting “Blame it on the Alcohol” Jamie Foxx?? This is a source you even lower yourself to quote?

I should be happy as us progressives are clearly kicking conservatives butt if all you can do is quote a second rate d-bag like Foxx.

    • bob

sounds mighty racist for a left wing d-bag to insult a man of color

  • Piglet

“Sure they are not crazy, that is exactly why they cry and weep and howl when the Great Leader died. Because they know if they don’t, then they are next! Simple! So you better cry and cry hard!”

This is the sort of thing I was writing about – most people don’t know much of anything about the North. The country is divided into three regions: those for the politically reliable, those who are less so, and those who are politically unreliable or are on the official s**t list for one reason or another, such as being the offspring of South Korean soldiers captured during the war and never allowed to return home. The politically reliable enjoy living in the most prosperous location, the capital city of Pyongyang, while the politically unreliable are assigned to live in the faraway, outlying areas. Those in Pyongyang are “true believers” who don’t need to be encouraged or forced into false displays of wailing and crying. They mean it.

    It’s idiocy
