It's not governments job to be involved in health care. The only reason that it's so expensive in the first place is because of government involvement in one form or another. Health care worked fine as a single payer system when it was private with Blue Cross and Blue shield. Unions had Hip. The truth is that you cannot just fix one part of this mess without fixing the whole problem that is causing the poor economics. What we need is to get government out of our life's. We are a free people and can do fine with out any dictatorship from our government who over steps their bounds to gain control over the people to dictate to them. Regardless of what it says

Do you think they would ever use such terms? And this new council that was created is not a "death panel" yet - but they will be "studying" the cost effectiveness of all medical procedures, which will ultimately lead to rationing and denial of care to terminally ill patients. On page 73, which states the purpose of the panel, there is absolutely no mention of rationing care or denying care based on the number of years a person theoretically has left to live.
