In the 1980's the self-esteem educators and guilt from the AIDS epidemic brought this into the open. I was on an ELCA church board in 1986 that read scripture and after much prayer and reading couldn't reconcile accepting practicing sodomites and lesbians as members much less ordained clergy. I am looking for a new church home but wish Jesus would hurry up and stop the madness.

Referring to the loss of tax-exempt status for churches, I think that no one should have tax-exempt status. Further, I believe that all taxation, for every government, should be limited to a single-digit sales tax. No IRS, and nothing for the IRS to threaten Priests, Pastors, Rabbis, or Imam's with. Churches shouldn't even be mentioned in any law, considering the rampant demand that churches should never affect the state; therefore, the state should never affect churches.

Until then, I think those churches that are threatened with losing tax-exempt status should be defended by some voluntary groups like the Deacons for Defense. Imagine this scene: a Rabbi, an Imam, a Catholic Priest, and a Baptist Minister stand outside a Buddhist temple all armed with shotguns, to keep the IRS agents away. Talk about peace; you can't blame war on religion then, only on the government/state for plundering temples and houses of God. The IRS agents would be shot on site by the bystanders if they shot at the religious men/women; the IRS isn't that stupid, fortunately.

The Supreme Court has now set itself, figuratively so, against all religious organizations that have any policy that discriminates against employing certain people based on its own moral teachings. Courts will have a field day with this. For example, a gay man or even a straight woman will sue a Catholic seminary for denying them education to become a priest, and a liberal judge will order that the plaintiff be given education. The Pope said that it is not up to him or any human to change the rule against women and homosexuals becoming priests in the Catholic church, so the seminary in this example is most likely to shut down or wind up with only one student, as the rest will leave in protest.

Obvious tactlessness is obvious.

Ernest, you need to conduct an earnest study of God's word and accept the fact that God not only gave us standards, but he required that we follow his standards. Churches that bow to the wicked and condone the practices that God said would result in judgment and eternal death are not doing anyone any favors. You may despise those of us who do not condone wickedness and immorality but instead tell perverts what God said about their lifestyle, but we are simply telling you the truth. Making a person feel good on their trip to hell is not a loving stance to take.

It appears that we are entering the time foretold as a part of the tribulation in which the perverts and other god-haters are going to wax strong and the saints are going to be temporarily subdued. Wickedness such as Ernest seems to revel in will be the norm. This will all end soon. Christians must maintain the faith because Jesus told us that he who remains faithful to the end shall be saved. The journey to that endpoint is most likely about to get more challenging.

Dear Ernest,

Have you not read the Bible, which is the only account of Jesus Christ's life and teaching? To follow in the footsteps of Jesus is to reject sin. "Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

This is sad. Does tolerance not allow us to think things are right or wrong, and allow others to do the same?

Ernest: You must be talking about your Mexican neighbor Jesús, because the God of the Bible doesn't tolerate sexual immorality, whether heterosexual or homosexual.

Hurray! Now the churches will need to start following Jesus and and stop discriminating against anyone who doesn't believe they way they do.

How come I can go to the Courthouse and get married without going to a Church, but I can't get married at a Church without going to the Courthouse?
